Break from Duties

After departing the 2nd Division Quarters with Rina, the two would enter the Seireitei. The two captains decided to go on a break for the day to explore and get to know eachother more. Shinko walked slowly wondering what to say. He was very curious about Rina but he didnt want ask a bunch of questions in one day. He decided this could be the start of a good friendship so he decided to take it slow. He looked up to the sky and then at looked around. There wasnt that much to do in the Seireitei...but it was better than being in an office.

As Rina and Shinko stepped out of the building the bright light given off by the sun blinded her. “Dang it, stupid sun light… why are you so bright… even when I was younger I did not necessarily like you.” Rina said mostly to her self as she covered her sensitive eyes and instinctively grabbed hold of Shinkos sleeve. “Sorry Shinko-kun I have been stuck in that building for the paas two weeks, not been out side for the whole time…hope you don’t mind being my guide till I can adjust.” Rina said in a nervous tone of voice. As they walked Rinas eyes where still clamped shut to block out the bright light, for some reason she had always been sensitive to light… well at least that’s what she believes. “humm I must seem very helpless to him……. How humiliating.” She thought.

Shinko just grinned, "Its alright I know the feeling. Being a member of the Stealth Force I get a little to used to the shadows and somethings it hurts my eyes, even from the slightest amount of light. Funny...my zanpakuto even makes the area darker...I guess the Darkness and I and one in the same". Shinko noticed she grabbed hold of his sleeve and he then wrapped one arm around her back to place an arm on her shoulder. A daring move but and interesting one to pull. "One day back when I was a 3rd seat I was so messed up a had a member guide me...Let me be your Guide, Rina-chan", he said kindly.

Rina keep her green eyes shut as she listened to Shinko tell her about the stealth force, she was in it for a short wile and it was not the worse division shed ever been it but its one she would rather not go back to. A small smile creped across Rinas lips as he spoke about the darkness, sure oddly enough she found darkness quite relaxing. “Hum, you don’t seem dark to me… you dont seem to be clouded in darkness like some in your divis,” she started but was cut short as she felt the arm go around her, she was immediately struck with fear, the heat from the sun was gone, she felt cold.. but she keep walking like there was nothing wrong, the only change she could not control was her heart rate and how the mussels along her back and shoulders where getting. “Well, it seems you have had a very interesting time in your division.” She said her voice a bit out of sort.

Shinko continued to walk the Seireitei. He was really disappoited the the lack of things they could do. He listened to Rina compare him about his Shinko. She knew so little who the man Shinko could be...He was nice now but there were times he could be a dark indivisual. "Thats for the compliment...I know some in the Division who are rather depressing. Yet I am clouded in darkness...The only reason I stand out is because Im Captain thus Im more in public and not as much in the shadows. But when I do my missions I am like the rest of them. And Im sure your division is very interesting as well. After all you do deal with all the tactics and record keeping. Some of the Soul Societies secrets lie in your Division", he said as he noticed a small tea/sake shop. "Perhaps you'd like to talk over tea...perhaps sake, whatever you prefer, my treat", he said with a smile.

Rina nodded her head in agreement to what he was saying, he was right her division had some very useful and very dangerous information they had to over see to. “ Your right…. that’s why im so strict about who can view records and who cant……… After all we don’t want the information on the soul society getting out… Especially the not so glamorous details.” She said her voice had a hint of darkness in it. Slowly she opened her big green eyes to look at him, the sun hurt her normally large pupils till they finally got the memo to shrink. Carefully Rina cocked her head to the side her long brown hair falling over part of her face giving her a slightly innocent look. “well tea sounds nice.” RIna said smiling slightly.

Shinko had a slight smirk on his face but it grew into a smile. The Soul Society had many secrets, some of which were better if people never found out. Rina was an important Captain to the Soul Society wheather she knew it or not. He noticed the sun going into her eyes when she looked at him so he used his other hand and placed it on Rina's forehead using it like a visor. "Tea it is then", he said as he walked with her over to the tea shop.

Once inside Shinko had someone escort them to indoor seats so now the sun wasnt an obstacle. The seats were in the back so the two had Privacy. It seemed this spot was reserved for those who has important business to discuss as well as a place to relax. "So what would you like?", he asked.

As Shinkos hand moved Rina flinched as it was placed on her forehead, she let out a slight sigh.. Sure Rina was normally aggressive to those she was not sure of but this one person was different, this one had something she was finding quite interesting… but that aspect she found interesting was not even clear to her. “you are so differant Shinko-kun…..so normal yet so intriguing.” She said her voice was soft and serious.

As they walked to there seats Rina looked around, taking in her surroundings carefully, once there where seated Rina folded her hands on her lap and closed her eyes for a moment before answering his question. “Just tea for me…as for what kind I don’t really care, im not a picky person when it comes to tea.” She said blinking a few times as her sensitive eyes adjusted to the lighting.

Shinko smiled at her words...Someone came to serve the two captains. "Two cups of tea, please", Shinko said. The man nodded and this disappeared off to fetch the tea. Shinko then turned to her, calmly staring at her for a bit before speaking."They say when you want to know someones name you give your name first. But we already past that point...and I figure the same could be used to learn more about someone. So Rina, is there anything you'd like to know about me?", he asked

Rina felt her skin tingle under his gaze, one of the many things her body does when she’s being watched or she is scared. She slightly cocked her head to the side her eyes narrowed ever so slightly… there was an odd look in her glowing green eyes something dark and then again something bright and caring. “ Are you rally the kind of person it think you are…. And that kind of person I believe you are is A kind caring man on the outside but somethings off somewhere…...Somewhere that I cant even find.... maybe a thought or a dream, or even an intention” Rina said her voice was calm and her eyes where locked onto him “something about you is different…but what it is im not cretin of.”

Shinko smiled at her. He looked her in the eyes noticng the odd look they gave off. He found it interesting...but what she said about him seemed more interesting. She seemed to deduct that he was different..perhaps he was. "The Soul Society is something I care for and I will always protect it. I love everyone in it as long as they dont threaten it. I swore to protect it and I guess being kind and caring it just to the people. You should see in me action...Then I am different. My intention is to make the Soul Society a better place by any means", he said

Rinas eyes shifter off of him for a moment as she closed her eyes, his words triggered something inside her making her some what dizzy, probably one of her many lost memories. “You sound quite noble Shinko-kun…. Good for you.” Rian paused her eyes re opening and a small smile curving onto her lips “So lets take turns, Is there anything you’d like to know about me?” She asked. Slowly she pushed her hair out of her face and crossed her hands onto her lap. As she waited for him to answer she heard the excited shrikes of children, and the sound of scolding adults. She could not help but to let out a small laugh, she found children’s shenanigans quite amusing.

Shinko noticed Rina close her eyes, he seemed worried about her for a moment but she soon seemed find so the worried look faded. "Alright we'll take turns. Hmm Im just curious. Sometimes you seemed shealtered and well not as social as some of the others. Im just curious onto how you became the way you are..Im interested in your history, Rina-chan if you dont mind me asking", he said trying to be polite about it. He noticed the children outside and he let out a slight chuckle as he heard the childrens laughter.

As Shinko spoke Rina fluttered her eyes out of frustration, sure she was jumpy but she did not know it was that noticeable. “Well from what I can remember I was born in a small village…. I can remember much, you see my memory is triggered by the oddest of things… As for the reason why in so jumpy, the story of that begins back before I deied… my mother her face is gone but her words remain “Oh Rina you must not think of death in such a sorrowful way, but I can assure you this you will be a big part in this villages history.”, she once told me… meaning she knew what was going to happen to me from what I believe. As I grew older I grew more aware of odd things.. things my family did. Once again I cant remember what it was I noticed, but soon after that death and I had a not so present encounter.” Her eyes narrowed slightly as she spoke. “I was alone one night I decided I want go down an ally way to get home… there I was stabbed and my blood drained, My own father ended me.”

Rinas eyes watered for a moment then she let out a long sigh, “That’s not the end of it though, when I came here I just found out everything I once knew was a lie….. and thus my fear of others was uncovered.” Once she finished she lowered her eyes to the ground.

Shinko watched Rina as he listened to the story of her past. One that sounded strange and slightly frightening. He closed his eyes gathering all the information and when he re-opened them he noticed that her eyes were watering. When she was done he saw that she was now looking at the ground. "That sounds terrible...Such a sad fate for someone who didnt deserve it. This is the kind of injustice I will stop one day...And Rina..I promise you that as long as I live nothing like that will ever happen to you again", he said softly as he reached across the table and took her hand reassuringly.

She did not remove her eyes from the ground as she spoke “Well, no one deserves anything its just the way fate is…….. fate is sometimes to change.” Slightly her ears perked as she hared Shinko speak more, his words held truthfulness in them but in a way a new question arose to her mind well more like two. Not wanting to react in any negitive or pausitive way to his touch ,Rina just lifted her head up and asked “ For one how would you bring a stop to the so called “injustice” in this world? Also how could you make a promise such as the one you just made to me Shinko-kun?” Her eyes where not giving of any emotion what so ever, and nor did her body so trying to guess what was going threw this woman’s head would be hard.

"It is a hard task to do but I wont be doing it alone. When Im not taking breaks like this I tend to be working. The 2nd Division is also the Omitsukido thus I tend to know everything happening in the Soul Society. I can try my hardest to predict when trouble occurs and I'll try to prevent it. If I cant I will try and stop it as well as apprehend those responsible as soon as possible.", Shinko said as he tried to analze her. He couldnt read her since she was being stoic so intend he said, "As for how could I make a promise to you...Its because I swore to do the best I could for the Soul Society..and also because you are my friend and now that I know about you...I will do what I can so you dont have to live through what you went through again", he said still holding her hand.

Ashort figure appeared in the distance, both his hands remain in his pocket as he has a lollipop in his mouth. He had short black and white hair and eyes as the same colour as the sky. His presence was calm as he kept on walking at a steady pace. He then looked at the corner of his eye and saw two figures in the distance. He then stop in his track as he saw the Captain of the 2nd Division. "Oiiiiiiii Tachio Hantaisha-san, its been a while since i've seen you, sorry to bother you on such short notice but i was bored and decided to take a little walk."shouted Goken as he raised his hand revealing his blue tattoo that he had around his hands. He was just passing through as he saw a familiar face but it looked like someone beat him to it. It would seem that Shinko had a female companion with him. "i wonder who is this special lady i guess i'll have to come closer to take a better look at her."said Goken as he was thinking to himself. He then placed his hands back into his pocket as he walked closer towards them.

As Rina listened to Shinko speak she keep her emotionless out look, but on the inside she was some what impressed by his touching speech… but not enough to admit to it. Slowly she pulled her hand away from him and rubbed the back of her neck carefully, closing her eyes she let out a soft sigh her life was a very eventful one and she had a feeling it was only going to get even crazier now that she was captain, after all Rina was not the calmest person in the world. Slowly she tilted her head to the side and said in a rather sensible voice “well it seems you have a lot resting on your shoulders Shinko-kun… And if there is any way I could be of assistance just say the word and I will see what I can do, after all what are friends for.” The word friend seemed to roll of Rinas tough almost as if it was not one she had used before.

As Rina sat there she felt something shoot through out her body making the hair on her neck stand on end, someone was coming. Slowly Rina turned her head to look at the on comer… She had never seen this person before and she was somewhat nerves. Just because one person was showing her kindness did not mean that every one would, in fact in her mind very few people have the virtue of kindness bestowed upon them. Slowly she stood up and him her back to Shinko, nothing was giving away the fear that was lurking with in her. “Hello, is there something we can help you with.” Asked Rina, her voice was smooth and calm for the time being.

As Rina pulled her hand back Shinko withdrew it and took his cup and sipped some tea. "While it is a tough task Im sure I wouldnt have to do it alone. The entire Gotei 13 serves that purpose meaning I have the other captains and members to help me", he said when he noticed that Rina called him a friend. He heard the way she said it, but she still said it and his eyes slightly widened. "Wow you called me friend", he said with a smile when he sensed a familar presense.

*Speaking of friends...*, he thought when he saw Goken. Shinko didnt shout back to the man in respect to Rina, he just simply lifted his hand to show he heard him and then nodded with a smile. Shinko stood when Rina did and then walked between the two. "Hi Goken, it has been awhile. Rina, this is Goken, Captain of the 5th Division and Goken this is Rina, Captain of the 8th Division", he said, introducing the two.
